Mary O. Ward

People ask me, “why are you like that?”  I have no explanation except, that’s how I am.  I grew up in Gary, Indiana during the 70’s and 80’s.  I am a teacher.  I have always wanted to be a teacher amongst other professions too.  But, I never wanted to teach in the city that I grew up.  And I haven’t; except when I was an administrator;  which leads me to my subject.  Boy!  She was the roughest administrator to ever cross my path.  She beat me so many times at Dunbar-Pulaski Middle School that I have PTSD.  My “friends” will tell you.  She told me that she was going to read about me in the newspapers one day.  Since that time, I have been trying to prove her wrong.  So, now I can talk about all of the wrongs in my life.  I’m not so upset and disappointed by what Gary, Indiana has to offer as far as administration (politically and educationally), but Gary, Indiana did make me what I am today. Believe that!
